Abstract

The study was carried out to assess young fisherfolks' information needs in artisanal fisheries in Ondo State, Nigeria. Data were collected from ninety two (92) randomly selected young artisanal fisherfolks with the aid of a structured questionnaire and data were analyzed using frequency counts, percentages and mean. Findings revealed that most of the artisanal fisherfolks were male (70.7%), majority (84.8%) of the respondents were married and 93.5% had secondary education., Most of the respondents (97.8%) were Christian while the mean fishing experience of the young fisherfolks was 6 years. Fellow fisherfolks (65.2%) formed the major source of information for the respondents while inadequate storage of products (77.2%) was the major constraint faced by the fisherfolks.
