The study analyzed effect of flooding on rice farmers’ productivity in Niger State. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select respondents for the study. First Stage involved purposive selection of two LGA each from the three agricultural Zone I, II and III Due to the prevalence of rice production in those LGA. The second stage also involved purposive selection of two rice producing villages that are mostly affected by flood and two rice producing villages that are less or not affected by flood from each of the selected LGAs this gives a total of 24 villages., the third stage employed Taro Yamane`s formula. A sample size of 234 registered rice farmers obtained from the formula was used. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. From the result it was seen that loss of farm land, loss of family member, loss of property, flood leading to food insecurity, hunger and starvation, and age all contribute to low farmer productivity, hence Government and Stakeholders should help rural farmers who are vulnerable to the adverse effect of flooding should be provided with incentives, grants or loan, to curb the effect of flood, furthermore, appropriate mitigating method should be introduce to farmers to identify earlier signs of the event of flood hence they can be repositioned to stand the vagaries of the natural disaster.
